Bhadrapada Masa – What should we eat?
Posted by : Siribele Natural On : 13 Sep 2026
Ganesha festival marks an important time in Bhadrapada Masa.
🌿 Have you noticed that our traditional food habits change with the season?
Our ancestors observed:
🌧️ Change in season
🌱 Change in availability of food
🧘 Change in digestion and body needs
🍚 Change in the way we eat
During Bhadrapada and the monsoon transition, traditional food wisdom generally encourages fresh, warm, simple and easily digestible foods.
🌾 *Foods we can include:*
• Traditional rice varieties and millets
• Moong dal and other light dals
• Seasonal vegetables – pumpkin, ash gourd, bottle gourd, etc.
• Freshly cooked vegetable preparations and soups
• Seasonal fruits
• Small quantities of nuts and seeds
• Spices such as ginger, cumin, pepper and turmeric in our cooking
• Warm, freshly prepared food instead of stale or heavily processed food
Different regions have their own Bhadrapada food traditions based on local climate and crops.
The important message is not "this food is good and that food is bad".
It is:
🌱 Eat with the season.
🌾 Eat what nature provides.
🙏 Respect the wisdom behind our food traditions.
Today, almost every food is available throughout the year.
Have we forgotten the connection between season, food and our body? 🤔
Maybe Bhadrapada is a good time to rediscover it.
